Certification Introduction

SUBTEL (Subsecretaria de Telecomunicaciones) is Chile's telecommunications regulator, and products involving radio frequency, cellular or satellite technology require approval and certification for commercialization in Chile.

Applicable product scope

Portable transceivers, remote controls, wireless microphones, wireless telephones, radio frequency identification (RFID) devices, radio alarms, medical communication system implementations (MICS), medical application equipment, vehicle radar system equipment, and any wireless technology (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi , RFID, etc.) such as printers, keyboards, computer mice and touchpads.

If the equipment can be classified into these technical categories, a certificate of certification will be issued after obtaining a certificate of conformity from a registered testing agency in Chile. If the device cannot fall into these categories, the manufacturer must obtain a "special authorization" from SUBTEL to commercialize the device.
